HairPortfolios is a company created by a hairstylist with over 20 years of experience in the business. The vision behind Hairportfolios was to bring forth a vehicle that would provide a way for beauty industry professionals to maximize their potential for success and excel in their careers without the hassles of having to "pound the bricks".  Getting out and promoting is the most essential part of our business.  However, it is also the most time consuming, and in our field, time is money.  We must utilize our time correctly when facing the dilema of going out and promoting our business vs. actually working in the salon. The vision to provide a vehicle for stylists to maximize their potential for success didn't come over night though.  The vision came to me from being faced with the dilema for a long period of time.  I was constantly being faced with the decision to make, of going out to promote my business and run the risk of not being available for new clients who "may" come into the salon, or going out to "sell myself" to get new clients.  As a stylist I understand how hard it is to promote your business and be available for your existing clients.  It seems as if there's never enough time to do anything but your clients.  I also understand that success requires a lot of hard work so we have to constantly promote our business.  The bulk of our success lies within our ability to promote ourselves and our craft.  So I needed to come up with a way to constantly advertise my business and be available to service my existing clientele at the same time.  I tried doing photoshoots and magazine prints, but photo shoots can be quite costly and very time consuming.  When I did them, I would always think to myself, "Is this going to guarantee me any new clients? because I'm missing a half day of client bookings to do this?"  And sure, I got some new clients from doing the shoots but I also sacrificed a few appointments to get those new clients.  To miss a few appointments to gain a few appointments didn't prove profitable to me.  So, was it really worth it to me? No!  Not only did I miss out on a few client bookings but I also paid a nice amount of money to do those shoots and didn't even have control over which pictures were chosen to represent me and my craft.  Furthermore, as a professional I like to always be available for my clients who patronize my business. Therefore, I came up with a way to do both, attract new clients and at the same time be available to service my existing clientele...  That was the beginning of HairPortfolios!
